A quick look at (Bio) chemistry
Ethanol was the first type of alcohol to be discovered. The Egyptians were known to enjoy alcoholic drinks over 4,000 years ago and distillation was a well-known practice in the time of the Pharaohs.
The term “alcohol” comes from the Arabic for powdered antimony, al-kho’l, used by Arabian alchemists during the Arab conquest of Spain. A German physician by the name of Libavius was the first to have used the term in the modern sense, during the Renaissance
