RAW ALCOHOL
The chemicals market
- Ethanol is used as either a chemical reactant or an intermediate to achieve synthesis, in order to then produce other molecules such as ethylamines and esters (acetate, acrylate and phthalate).
- In parachemicals, it is used to manufacture paint, ink and explosives. Water-based ink, for use on non-absorbent media (metal or plastic), can contain up to 15% ethanol. According to the French union of alcohol distiller groups (UNGDA), 30% of inks contain solvents, half of which may be ethanol.
